Two bikes are better than one at the hardware store (Will posted on June 4th, 2012 )

Last week we needed to pick up a few things at the hardware store. We decided to take the Madsen and the Cargo Cruiser.

Hardware Store Trip

Without really planning ahead, we ended up getting the perfect amount of stuff to cram onto the bikes. We bought six heads up lettuce, six tomato plants, two basil plants, two lavender plants, broccoli, cauliflower, rosemary, light bulbs, and a 44″ patio table.

The patio table balanced perfectly on the seat and front fork of the bike, allowing us to pack all the lettuce underneath.

It’s worth mentioning that we wouldn’t have been able to fit this all in our car. The patio table would have been too large and the plants would have been difficult to fit in the trunk and the back seats.

On the bikes, however, we still had plenty of room and could have easily carried another half-dozen heads of lettuce.

Plus, the plants looked much more beautiful on the back of a bike than they would have in the trunk of a car.

I love the flowers on the back of the Madsen. Looks like they were made for each other.
